How To Make A Fluffy Buttercream Icing With A Twist


Buttercream is a type of icing usually made using butter and confectioner sugar, although other fats such as lard and margarine can be used but the resulting taste is different compared to using butter. Butter gives your buttercream the fantastic taste you would like.
   Buttercream can be used as filling cake layers, for crumb coating, for coating and as a whole icing for cake, as topping for cupcakes and desserts.
 

   THINGS YOU WILL NEED
Ingredients
• 500g Icing Sugar
• 250g Butter (at room temperature)
• Flavour(of choice)
• Milk


Tools
• Mixing Bowl
• Spatula
• Wooden Spoon ( if you're not using mixer)

Procedure
1. Whip using the whisk attachment (if you are using a mixer)/mix with a wooden spoon your butter for 8-10 minutes ( your butter should be creamy now)

2. Sift in your icing sugar bit by bit making sure it is well incorporated before adding another. Scrape excess that sticks to the sides of the mixing bowl with a spatula.

3. Add milk ( to a normal and preferred consistency) and  flavour then mix for another 2-3 minutes until it is fluffy.

4. Cover your buttercream with a neat and damp cloth while  waiting for your cake to cool or store it in a refrigerator for later use

Twist
Add Shortening to your buttercream for extra strength.
