Using Your Nigeria Local Oven

Oven is a device used for cooking (baking and grilling) of foods. It can be powered using electricity, gas, charcoal and wood (in local bread bakery)

   The Nigeria local oven is usually powered with cooking gas and/or charcoal and can be used for baking and grilling.

   The common Nigeria oven is usually made up iron sheets and painted black(black is a good absorber and bad radiator of heat) and uses charcoal and cooking gas.

   For perfect baking using the Nigeria local oven, below are few but genuine things to put into consideration;

   ✓Preheat your oven for 10-15minutes before baking.
✓Use good quality and sufficient quantity of charcoal(for the charcoal type)
✓Ensure there is enough gas in your cylinder before baking.
✓Balance your oven by putting it on a levelled surface.
✓Balance your oven tray and rack.
✓Place your cake on the 2nd rack from below to avoid burnt cake.
✓Lag your oven (If needed)
✓ Let your cake bake for at least 25 minutes before opening the oven door as frequent opening of the oven door results into sudden drop in oven temperature which may adversely affect the resulting cake.
✓For a evenly baked cake, turn your cake and bake for 10 more minutes (if needed).

ADVANTAGES OF LOCAL OVEN
•The advantages of local oven over electrical oven is that local oven can be used in area with bad electricity supply or no electricity at all and one can be rest assured that the product being baked is provided with an uninterrupted temperature throughout the baking process.

    1. Thanks for your feedback... This could be caused by a low Oven temperature. This means the dough rises to its maximum, then collapses before it gets enough heat to set. Or, dough could have been over-risen.

      Try;
      1. Increasing your oven temperature
      2. Make sure the dough is properly raised

    1. Good day and thanks for reaching out... Did you mean cakes you baked using your local oven comes out brown from the bottom and light at the top?

    2. If that's the case, I'd advice you place your cake at the middle rack (the 2nd rack from the source of heat) and place thick clothing materials (it helps to provide heat from the top of the oven and also prevent heat loss) on top of your oven

    1. Hi... To connect your gas cylinder to your even you'd need;
      • Regulator (replacing the burner position)
      • Hose (to connect the gas through the regulator to the side of the oven that has the heat control)
      • 2 hose clips(to keep the hose firm at both ends)
